Eventually (examples, how to use)

Eventually means 'in the end' or 'finally'.

We use eventually to say that something happened after a long time, a delay, or a lot of effort.

After the fire, the building was in bad condition for many years. It was eventually demolished in 1997.

After missing seven or eight good chances, Arsenal eventually scored a goal in the last minute of the match.
Do not use eventual / eventually to mean possibly, maybe, perhaps, etc.

I might study history at university; I'm not sure.
Eventually I'll study history; I’m not sure.

They moved to either Spain or Portugal.
They moved to Spain, eventually Portugal.
