Verb + object + bare infinitive (without ”to”)

Verb + object + infinitive (without to)

When we use a second verb after let, make and help, we put the second verb in the bare infinitive form (the infinitive without to).

Let me show you my new bike.
We let him speak for as long as he wanted.
Let me introduce myself.
I'm sorry – I didn't mean to make you cry.
I helped my brother decorate his flat.
Could you help me wash the dishes, please?

Note: after help someone we can also use to before the infinitive. The meaning is the same.

I helped my brother to decorate.
or
I helped my brother decorate.

After verbs of the senses such as see and hear we often use an object and the bare infinitive.

I didn't see him score the goal.
I heard her lock the door.
